Liposuction

Liposuction

Liposuction is one of the most common surgical methods for improving the shape and appearance of the body when excess fat has accumulated on the abdomen and hips, the thighs, the calves or the ankles, as well as under the chin.

Depending on the volume, surgery under general anaesthesia takes from 20 minutes to 3 hours. When small areas are treated, local anaesthesia is possible. During the operation an incision of approximately 5 mm is made in the skin, through which a specially prepared fat-dissolving fluid is introduced with a cannula. The fat is then removed with a modern vacuum pump. The night after surgery is spent at the clinic, and for about 4 weeks a special elastic garment that supports tissue healing must be worn. Bruising fades within 2–3 weeks. In the treated areas fat does not accumulate again.

Fat transfer (liporefilling)

The principle of this method is that fat is removed from one part of the body and specially prepared by centrifuging it three times, which yields pure yellow fat. This prepared fat can then be injected into any other part of the body. Most often it is placed in the buttocks, the breasts and the face. The procedure is usually performed under local anaesthesia.

Useful information

Frequently asked questions

Which areas can be treated with liposuction?

Fat is removed from the abdomen and hip area, thighs, calves, ankles and the area under the chin.

How long does the surgery take and which anaesthesia is used?

Depending on the volume, surgery under general anaesthesia takes from 20 minutes to 3 hours. Local anaesthesia is possible for small areas.

How is liposuction performed?

An incision of about 5 mm is made in the skin, a specially prepared fat-dissolving fluid is introduced through a cannula, and the fat is then removed with a modern vacuum pump.

What is the recovery period like?

The night after surgery is spent at the clinic, and a special elastic garment that supports tissue healing is worn for about 4 weeks. Bruising fades within 2–3 weeks, and fat does not accumulate again in the treated areas.

What is fat transfer (liporefilling)?

Fat removed from one part of the body is centrifuged three times to obtain purified fat, which can then be injected into any other area — most often the buttocks, the breasts and the face. The procedure is usually performed under local anaesthesia.

How much does liposuction cost?

The price depends on the body area and the extent of the correction. For example, the abdomen and flanks cost EUR 3,000–3,500, the thigh area EUR 2,000–2,500, and fat transfer EUR 2,500–4,000.
